About 50 percent of our ministry
involves concerts and festivals. The vast majority of our festivals are
held in public parks, free of charge and with a very informal feel.. the
goal being to attract those who would never set foot into a
traditional church setting, but would come to check out free music
in the park, and end up hearing the message of Jesus Christ in the
process. Our festivals are based on music.. part praise & worship,
part contemporary Christian and part alternative, with "mini-messages"
between sets rather than long sermons. This year's festivals will be one-day events featuring a variety of Christian music. We strive to bring the music and the message to all people, so our festival format is currently evolving to achieve that goal.. we're working toward a format for next year that will feature a Friday night high-energy alternative Christian format with high-tech sound and lighting (aimed to bring in the youth), followed by a full day on Saturday of praise and contemporary Christian music (aimed to attract the entire family), and an afternoon of continuous praise and worship on Sunday (we encourage everyone to attend their local church in the morning, and then join us for a community picnic hosted by the local ministerial association right before the worship begins.) We expect the the worship to last into the evening hours, with a combined praise "orchestra" made up of the Visions praise team and many local praise teams and choirs. We play to an audience of "One", so everyone present is encouraged to be a part of the worship. The Saturday all-day festival will also feature a children's ministry area (complete with puppets), and vendor booths run by local churches and youth groups as fund-raisers (with all profits going to them). |
